Generations past. There must be some changes if not, drastic changes in
our world that we live in. From political to social to technology etc etc etc.
These are just my thoughts. If any of the comments that i made are wrong please
do let me know.
Al-Quran is the primary source of knowledge. Al-Quran do not give us a detailed
instruction of what to do. But Al-Quran gives us the generalisation. It gives us
values. Why values and not intructions??
As a human being we have a faculty of rationalisation. And what are the first few
verses that was being revealed to our Prophet Muhammad SAW?? The translation on the
first verse is "Read! In the Name of your Lord Who has created (all the exists)".
Read. What did the Golden Age of Islamic civilisation do? Remember during that time
Islamic civilisation do not have tonnes of book to read. So they collect all the books from all over the world from varieties of language. Why did they do this?
But how do they understand our language? This is the solution. They translate
all the books into Arabic Language. So that they could read. Understand then produce
a new sets of knowledge or improve on the knowledge that was exist.
This is how we relate to the values that Al-Quran has. Using a new set of knowledge
but driven by the values of the Al-Quran, should i say the Syaria (Al-Quran and the
Sunnah of Muhammad SAW). Fiqh is the result of this. Meaning fiqh is not a static facts. But it keeps changing from generation to generation. (This is a summary of
first few chapters of the book that i read, "Islamic Sciences". Correct me if i'm wrong or i interpret the book wrongly")
So do we have a new set of ideas that is driven by the Syaria to tackle today's
issues?
So what can Singapore do. To be specific what can the Islamic Institution do to
produce thinkers of Islam. (To understand today's world we need to understand
the knowledge of circularism and Islamic knowledge too).
Maybe insyaAllah next time i will come out with solutions. These solutions
may be wrong because i do not have vast knowledge about Islam and Circularism.
